Career Ignite Hub (Pty) Ltd, trading as Career Ignite, respects your privacy and is committed to processing personal information responsibly and in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013, known as POPIA.

This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, stored, shared and protected when you register for or use Career Ignite’s career-assessment, career-counselling and related services.

5. Assessment platform

Career Ignite uses the Edumilestones technology platform to administer career assessments and generate related reports.

Information entered into the assessment portal may therefore be processed through Edumilestones’ systems for the purpose of providing the requested assessment service.

Career Ignite is obtaining further confirmation from Edumilestones regarding its data-hosting locations, retention periods, subprocessors and cross-border processing arrangements. This policy will be updated where necessary once those details are formally confirmed.

6. Information about children

Career Ignite provides certain services to learners under the age of 18.

Where legally required, a parent, guardian or other competent person must authorise the collection and processing of the learner’s personal information and participation in the assessment or counselling service.

Parents and guardians must provide accurate information and confirm that they have the authority to act on behalf of the learner.

Children’s information will only be processed for purposes connected to the requested service or another legally permitted purpose. POPIA gives children’s personal information particular protection. Information Regulator guidance?

7. Sharing of information

8. Cross-border processing

If personal information is processed or stored outside South Africa, Career Ignite will take reasonable steps to ensure that the transfer is permitted under POPIA and that appropriate safeguards apply.

Career Ignite uses reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect information against loss, unauthorised access, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

No electronic platform can guarantee absolute security. Where a security compromise occurs, Career Ignite will respond and provide legally required notifications in accordance with POPIA.

10. Retention

Personal information will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to:
